Announcing Camber
Today marks a pivotal moment as we - after four years of working in relative stealth - publicly announce the launch of Camber*, and the $50M in funding we’ve raised from phenomenal supporters at a16z, Craft Ventures, YCombinator, Manresa, and many others.
For most of us, this journey started a lot longer than four years ago. In many ways, we’ve all struggled with the deeply painful experiences of getting the care we needed paid for at some time or another. We felt there had to be a better way.
Over the past four years, we’ve been able to build that better way. Camber now:
- Powers billing for 90,000 patients across 42 states
- Manages ~$2B in annual billables across 6+ healthcare treatment types
- Assists provider groups from 8-8,000+ employees, driving impact for both small and large providers alike
Building this has not been an easy journey, and we expect the difficulty to only continue. In the process, we’ve built:
- Thousands of rulesets to understand how payers will treat our claims, relying on millions of past sessions
- Dozens and dozens of integrations with EHRs, clearinghouses, LLM services, third party healthcare services, and many others
- Data models that encapsulate every possible edge case in healthcare - believe it or not, this has been the hardest part of the journey
But in doing so, we’ve created a service that does something pretty novel: getting providers in the verticals we’re focused on paid, on the first try, 93% of the time. The capital we’re announcing today will allow us to better serve our existing providers, and continue expanding into new verticals. We’re just getting started.
To our providers who took bets on us early on: thank you for your trust, and for bearing with us as we ironed out the kinks. To our investors without whom our company would not exist: thank you for buying into our vision of a better healthcare system. To everyone else on this journey with us: we cannot express our appreciation enough.
